About Us

JBMEC Electrical & Control is an electrical engineering design and consultancy company with extensive experience across the full project lifecycle — scoping surveys, specification, tendering, switchboard design, local control panel and motor control centre design, drawing and test documentation development, manufacture, build, in-process testing and verification, conformity assessment, commissioning and site acceptance testing.

Registered in Australia and operating across both the UK and Australian markets, we provide specialist electrical engineering consultancy from initial concept through to production, commissioning and ongoing support. Our work is grounded in deep technical knowledge of BS EN 61439, AS/NZS 61439 and the wider IEC standards framework.

Our Story

Where We Started

JBMEC was founded by Jonathan Burke in the United Kingdom before relocating to Australia.

Why Australia

With BS EN 61439 and AS/NZS 61439 both derived from the same IEC 61439 base, the transition to the Australian market was a natural step. JBMEC was established to bring UK-depth MCC and switchboard design expertise to the Australian industrial sector — backed by the same rigorous verification, documentation and Declaration of Conformity processes.

We work alongside you from the earliest stages — reviewing specifications, challenging assumptions and developing the right technical strategy before a single line is drawn. Our goal is to ensure the design intent is clear, the compliance route is defined and the project is set up to succeed.

Our engineering team produces the full design package — GAs, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, protection studies, arc flash analysis and compliance documentation. We work collaboratively with your engineers, panel builders and procurement teams to keep the design aligned with programme, budget and buildability.

We support you through manufacturing, factory acceptance testing and site commissioning — providing the technical continuity that ensures what was designed is what gets built. We remain accountable for the quality of our work from first issue through to final handover.
